Welcome to AERO blog
I still barely understand what a blog is, but I’m about to find out!
This is the new AERO blog and we’ll start posting news and articles here. Who knows what else? Welcome to the AERO blog!

Yo Jerry! Good luck with the new blog! I’m sure it’ll be great. You have more than enough material for a blog in the e-newsletters, so you could just reuse that stuff, except that the whole online world would be able to see it rather than just people whose emails you have! And blogging is actually really easy, it’s not much different from writing emails.
Actually, AERO is indirectly responsible for me starting my own personal blog! During the 2005 AERO conference, I was chatting with somebody from the Olympia Free School, and meanwhile he was typing up an entry on his laptop for his school’s blog (at the time, it was called “Free School Field Days”). I had been meaning to start a blog for some time, but as I saw him typing away it just struck me how easy it was, and how I should stop stalling around and just go ahead already — and I did so, shortly after getting back home from the conference.

Hello, my friend!! I’ve been meaning to congratulate you on the new blog, but procrastinated registering for a WordPress account in order to reply. I’ve heard WP’s interface has improved greatly since I used it years ago, so perhaps it’s time to give it another go. Many thanks again for your generosity in approving content for my blog post at Founders College. I hope to find a way to return the favor one day!
That article on “Democratic School Governance” proved to be one of the last contributions from my keyboard, as the fledgling college closed its doors at the end of March with little fanfare. Seems we still have a bit of time to wait until a truly democratic college arrives on the scene… Btw, I added a link to AERO’s new blog in my farewell article, and I suppose that’s that.
Our daughter is staying on in South Boston for another month or so to complete her art project, and really looking forward to returning to her studies at the Academy’s studio in Toronto. Here’s a portion of a recent message sent to the Founders faculty and staff, along with some news which may be of interest to our fellow AERO members:

Dear Tamara and All,
While we have few details on your individual and collective journey with Founders this past year – we want to say thanks to you all, Fernando and Colleen [Directors of ARA's Fine Arts program at the college] in particular, for their generosity in inviting our daughter, Nike, to share in the many facets of life as a college coed. She enjoyed getting to know everyone involved, and becoming close friends with her fellow pioneer students and professors
It’s certainly been an experience she won’t soon forget, and we have no regrets for encouraging Nike to try something altogether new and innovative.
On another note, a friend of mine, Ginny Dye of Together We Can Change The World is sponsoring a special fundraising tour with the SIFA Africa Children’s Choir. Their first concert will be held in Wakefield, VA this Sunday, April 13th if anyone is up for a road trip! The choir will be based in Virginia and traveling throughout the Central and Eastern US for the next six months, returning to VA in May, and again in September for the return flight to Uganda.
As I understand it, there is no charge for the concerts, and all donations will go toward completion of the Glory Children City Project in Masaka, Uganda, East Africa. This will be home to many of the choir members and other orphaned children as it develops into a fully operational Orphan Care Project and School. No doubt they could use a few good teachers there as well!
If you know of anyone in the South Boston area, including all philanthropist types there at Berry Hill and beyond, who might enjoy hosting this choir for a special concert performance – contact Carrie Harless at info@sifachoir.org to discuss details. Please pass this along to interested friends, if you feel so inclined!
Wishing you all the best in whatever Life presents next ~
Sincerely yours, Penne and Family
